Sowing the Seeds
LOCAL SHARED MINISTRY CONFERENCE 2015
27th – 29th November at Grafton Hall
Venue and Dates:
The LSM Conference, called Sowing the Seeds, is being held at Grafton Hall from late afternoon on Friday 27th November to lunchtime on Sunday 29th November 2015. This will be the last year that we can meet at Grafton Hall, as the complex has been sold to Auckland University, who apparently intend to construct a different accommodation block for students on the site. Therefore it will also be the last conference that will be catered for by George and his staff. So, combined with Ian Render leaving the enabler team at the end of this year to move south, this year’s Conference marks a bit of an end of an era.
Conference Speakers:
Our keynote speaker will be Jacolize Becker, who was appointed this year as the Children and Families Facilitator for the diocese. The enablers were delighted to get to know Jacolize at the recent Collaborative Ministry course, and are looking forward to what she will be offering the Conference both in teaching on Engaging with Younger Generations in our Communities and in practical ideas for achieving that.
The other speakers and presenters are (in order of appearance):
Bishop Jim, teaching on Adaptive Leadership;
Ian Render, teaching some New Music;
Rev Jacynthia Murphy, an enabler from Tai Tokerau, who will be offering a Maori Lens on Collaborative Ministry as we draw to the end of our bicentennial year;
Sarah Stevens-Cross, who will be offering an International perspective on LSM.
We will also be blessed by Josh Jones and his band, leading a Beatles singalong for the entertainment on Saturday evening; and by the preaching of Ian Render at the eucharist on Sunday morning.
Overall, the content of this year’s Conference addresses each of the themes that the Mission and Ministry Group have named as the priorities for the diocese
Costs:
Thanks to the generosity of Grafton Hall we have been able to keep costs well below those of last year.
Full accommodation and all meals: $185
Live-out, with all meals except breakfasts: $105
Registrations and Payments:
Although some may still choose to fill in the registration form on the brochure and then post it in, we are hoping that most people will register by email using the Word document registration form, which is on this website. Once the registrations have been received the Neligan House administrators will send an invoice for payment.
