Pam Harrison-Boyd, ordained priest by the Rt. Revd. Jim White
The Revd. Pam Harrison-Boyd was ordained on Sunday 16 November at St. James, Kerikeri, by the Rt. Revd. Jim White. The preacher was the Revd. Dr. Sarah Park (2nd. from left). Pictured also are the Enabler (Ian Render, at left) and the Ministry Support Team (from left): Shirley Tubbs, Barbara Collins (Pastoral Care), Pam Harrison-Boyd, Bishop Jim, Sandy McKay, Pat Collins, Flip Boerrigter (Worship Co-ordinator) and Fiona Gillibrand (Deacon, Minister of Healing)
Pam’s life is very full at present, adding the direction of a community pantomime to her ministry and studies with the Diocesan Training Programme. The church was full with parishioners and supporters for a joyful celebration of Local Shared Ministry and Ordination.
Ordinations celebrated at McLeod Bay, Whangarei Heads
On the 9th of February we gathered at the McLeod Bay Community Hall for the ordination to the priesthood of Ray and Sue Blomquist. The nearby Pioneer Church was far too small for the congregation of about 100 who packed into the Hall for a wonderful service of celebration and commitment. Bishop Ross presided, and members of the ministry support team and other friends participated fully. The local congregation (including those of other denominations) worked hard to create an attractive worship space which allowed for an informal but very moving occasion. There were friends from several facets of the couple’s long-standing commitment to ministry present. Ray and Sue will mainly be offering their ministry in the Whangarei Heads area, but will preside occasionally at Onerahi as well. Although retired from the team, the Revd. Mary Molesworth (5th from right, above) will continue her long and faithful ministry alongside Ray and Sue and the lay leadership team.
Ray recently led a very successful fund-raising campaign to purchase the Pioneer Church for the local community’s spiritual needs, after it had become surplus to the requirements of the Presbyterian Church. Now the building is secured for multi-denominational and ecumenical public worship.
